Description
I made Big Taos Mug on the potter’s wheel with stoneware clay. The bottom is flat and the handle roomy enough for bigger hands! I pull the handle directly from the mug giving it a natural look and feel. A thumb stop is added for additional comfort.
The “Taos” glaze is a technique I have developed over time of dipping blue, then green glazes, then splashing and trailing cream across the seam. Next I dip the rim in red gold. Lately, I have taken to a fat paint brush that I use to daub blooms sporadically over the surface. The blooms fire out bright blue with gold edges and remind of clouds parading across the open sky of a Northern New Mexico landscape.
Big Taos Mug is 6.25” H and 3″ diameter. Yet well-balanced and light weight. Holds 20 oz
Sip comfortably from the beaded rim. Enjoy your favorite hot or cold beverage. Collect different mugs or create a set. You will never go back to those cheap, poured ceramic mugs once you’ve used a handmade pottery mug. Stoneware is durable and long-lasting.
Makes a great birthday, holiday, housewarming, thank you, or anytime gift.
Microwave and dishwasher safe.
