Description

I made Coffee Mocha Mug on the potter’s wheel from an iron bearing stoneware clay.  It has a classic cylindrical shape with a beaded rim and a flat foot.  I pull the handle directly from the body of the mug, giving it a natural extension from the cup.  And I add a small bead of clay as a thumb stop or rest.

After the mug is fired to bisque, or 1800 degrees F, I prep the mug for glazing and then dip the bottom 3/4 of the cup in a a textured amber brown glaze. Next I line the mug with a cream glaze that I make and then dip just the top 1/4 of the cup in a black satin glaze.  This results in a warm, slightly textural brown accented with soft black and a creamy interior.  Yum.

I fired the mug a second time to 2200 degrees in oxidation.  It’s microwave and dishwasher safe.

Serve up coffee, hot chocolate, tea.  Stoneware pottery helps to keep your beverage hotter longer.

Coffee Mocha Mug makes a great housewarming, birthday, holiday, or thank you gift.  Or start your mug collection with this easy favorite.  Light weight.  Well balanced.
