Doe Candelabra is an assemblage of parts I made on the potter’s wheel: a tapered body, a doughnut cut in half, and two candle cups. It’s labor intensive and challenging but rewarding when the final piece all comes together.
Doe Candelabra holds two 3/8″ candles. It stands 13″ High. I treated the surface with a red iron oxide stain and then poured and daubed glazes over it. The oxide stain burns into the surface during the firing and turns a deep, rich red brown.
The “rack” which holds the two candles reminds me of a graceful doe, a deer, a female deer. Corndles fit perfectly and may be purchased from New Mexico Candle Company. I will include the two shown in the photo.
