Description

Joshua Tree Manhandle Mug is an ode to Joshua Tree National Park: Its red gold matte glaze a reference to the desert; the green overlapping glaze a nod to the Joshua Tree.  Like all my mugs, I made Joshua Tree Manhandle Mug on the potter’s wheel from stoneware clay and pulled the handle directly from the pot.  Thumb rest added for comfort.  I give the handle plenty of space for all sizes of hands.

One of my favorites of found objects that I pick up off the roads in Northern New Mexico is the weights used for balancing tires.  The latch part that hooks on the tire rim makes an interesting impression, especially if it’s been flattened by a car.  This mug has a single stamp on either side.

Use for hot or cold beverages, fired stoneware holds temperature longer than those slip cast, mass-produced mugs.  Makes a great gift for birthday, house warming, holidays and even to say “Thank You!”

I trimmed the bottom flat, no foot.  Holds the temperature, so drink hot or cold beverages in your new mug.

I fire to 2200 degrees F so use your stoneware mug in the microwave or dishwasher.

5.25″ High. 15 oz capacity
