I made Purple Spoon Rest from slab-rolled stoneware clay. I cut the template to a size that can serve several purposes: Spoon rest, salt and pepper shaker tray, small tray for cheese, bread, or butter; even a soap dish.
The glaze is a purple matte with streaks of gold, green and cream overlaying the purple. For this series, I really had fun dipping, pouring, and slinging the various glazes to create a composition. They are pretty enough to stand just as they are on a shelf, coffee table, or side board.
Purple Spoon Rest fits conveniently on the stove or dinner table. Use it to rest your cooking or serving spoon; or, serve butter, cheese, or sushi. Use on the vanity as a jewelry catch. Use for individual bread plate or dessert plate. Buy a handful and stack them like plates. And they are dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe. (Allow a refrigerated dish to come to room temperature before placing it into a hot oven or microwave.)
