I assembled RIO Candelabra Pair from parts I made on the potter’s wheel: tapered bodies, a doughnut cut in half, and 4 candle cups. Whew! Work intensive as everything must match but rewarding when finished piece is successful!
I rubbed red iron oxide (RIO) into the entire surface of both pieces and then dipped, poured, dripped, and daubed various glazes over top. Then fired to 2200 degrees. The RIO fired to a rich, deep red brown. The glazing adds highlights and contrast.
Use the straight, classic dinner candles in these candelabras. They are designed for this wider 7/8″ candle. But I am included ferules in each of the cups, which you may set with putty or hot wax to use the tapered 7/8″ candle. Glue the ferules in the cups if you decide you prefer the slimmer cut candles.
RIO Candelabra Pair each stand a little over 13″ high and span about 7″ across the top.
Sold as a pair with 4 gold-tone ferules.
