I made Sweet Swirl Teapot by throwing the individual elements on a potter’s wheel and then assembling those elements: Body, spout, and lid. All three must work together in order to have a well-balanced and pleasing teapot.
I pull a handle directly from the pot and add a thumb stop. A trimmed foot elevates the teapot off the table. Slip decoration and natural ash glaze with brushwork. Shino glaze liner.
The material is stoneware clay. I fire Sweet Swirl Teapot to 2400 degrees F in my wood kiln so it can tolerate some heat!
And it’s dishwasher safe as well.
Use loose leaf tea if you prefer. The teapot has a strainer in the spout.
