Description

I made Taos Baker on the potter’s wheel from stoneware clay.  First I throw the bowl of the casserole and create a galley where the lid will seat.  Then I throw the lid on the wheel to fit the diameter of the bowl.

When the two pieces are not quite leather hard, I trim them both and then make the handle for the lid from twisted clay.  After I bisque fire Taos Baker, I glaze each piece.  I use my 4-part glaze application to decorate the outside of the casserole – floating blue, green, cream, and gold.  I glazed the inside floating blue with gold accents.  Then I fire to 2200 degrees.

Wow!  The blue is blazing and the gold accents amazing.

Yes, you can bake in it!  Use it to serve favorite side dishes as well.  It will help keep them warm longer and dazzle your dinner guests! Light weight, well-balanced.  And the lid fits snugly from all directions!

Makes a unique and beautiful wedding, anniversary, housewarming, or anytime gift!

Trimmed foot. 7″ Bowl Diameter 3″ High.  Just under 1-quart capacity – 3.5 cups

(Note:  When reheating leftovers from the fridge, allow the casserole to come to room temperature before placing in a pre-heated oven.  Or, place the cold casserole in a cold oven and warm the two up together.
