I made Taos Mini Crock on the potter’s wheel from stoneware clay. I trimmed the bottom flat. The lid is a perfect fit inside the galley with a knob that is comfortable to grasp. I stained the rim of the lid and knob with iron oxide. The combination of deep reddish brown against the Taos glaze reminds me of the Mission style furnishings somehow.
The ‘Taos” glaze consists of dipping, pouring, and daubing blue, green, cream, and gold glazes. The dynamic result references the natural environment that is Northern New Mexico: Blue sky, dreamy clouds, pinon trees, and sunflowers.
Use Taos Mini Crock for sugar, honey, or to keep your favorite sweeteners in one jar. Store condiments or nuts or grains. Serve dips.
Fired to 2200 degrees F. Yes you can bake in it!
