Taos Pitcher is a tall and elegant, completely functional ewer. I made it on the potter’s wheel from stoneware clay and pulled the handle directly from the pot. Added a thumb stop for comfort. I call this glaze combination ‘Taos’. My technique of dipping and pouring overlapping blue, green, cream, and gold glazes often results in a landscape reminiscent of Northern New Mexico. On this pitcher, the blue is a cobalt. Overlapping red gold glaze creates a stunning veil over the upper portion of the pot. Streaks of cream add a bit of whimsy; and the green at the bottom grounds the piece.
Use Taos Pitcher for water, lemonade, or any other beverage you wish to contain or decant. It’s a well-balanced pour with a sturdy handle and smooth spout. Use Taos Pitcher as a vase for those taller, full bouquets; or as focal point in your display. A compliment to any home’s decor.
