I made Taos Soup Bowl on the potter’s wheel from stoneware clay. After trimming a flat bottom, I pulled the handle directly from the body of the bowl and added a thumb stop for comfort.
The Taos glaze is a 4-part sequence of applying blue, green, cream, and gold glazes. I have developed a manner of application that results in a loose landscape that is reminiscent of Northern New Mexico: The blue of the open skies. The green of the junipers and sage and pastures. The cream of the puff clouds. And the gold of the sunshine.
Taos Soup Bowl holds about 2 cups of soup, cereal, oatmeal, or beverage! Hot of cold! Use for french onion soup, green chile stew, or your favorite!
