I made Verde Man Handle Mug on the potter’s wheel using stoneware clay. The bottom is flat. Pulling the handle directly from the body of the mug gives the attachment a natural and comfortable look and feel. There is ample room for larger hands and enough heft in the handle to get your hands around it. I add a thumb stop, which people really seem to like.
I use a tire weight that I found along the roadside to stamp the mug on both sides. Tire weights fall off of cars a lot up north in New Mexico and they get smashed in different ways, which makes collecting them interesting.
Overlapping green (Verde) and cream glazes creates a clean and tailored design. Stoneware pottery holds the temperature of the liquid in your mug hot or cold longer than those slip cast commercially stamped out mugs. You’ll never go back!
Makes a great birthday, holiday, housewarming, thank you, or anytime gift.
