Description
I made Verde Colander on the potter’s wheel from an iron bearing stoneware clay. Full shaped with a trimmed foot and economical handles for easy lifting. The rim is slightly beaded to protect from chipping in daily use. Well-balanced, durable, and highly useful.
Verde is what I call the glaze combination of two glazes that I make: copper green and cream rust. First I dip the bowl in the copper green glaze with a motion that results in a valley of bare clay. Next I dip half the bowl in the cream rust, filling in the valley and also overlapping the green. The overlapping area forms a soft, mottled effect which often reminds me of cactus. It’s a tailored look – contemporary, and clean. The glazes lean toward a matte finish; that is, they aren’t really shiny. Restful to the eye. The pattern of holes is pretty too!
Use Verde Colander to strain fruits, greens, pastas, potatoes. Makes a great fruit bowl as well. Serve salad. Display the bowl when it’s not in service.
Makes a great wedding, housewarming, birthday, holiday, or anytime gift. Gift yourself and start your own collection.
