Description
I made Verde Oval from slab-rolled stoneware clay. I drape the rolled clay over a mold, shaping it over the form and then cutting away the excess clay. The form is dried slowly to avoid warping and has a flat bottom.
Verde is the glaze combination I am using here. First I dip maybe half of the tray in the copper green that I make, rolling the glaze up on either end. And then dipping in the cream rust I make, ensuring there is an overlap of the two glazes. Where the two meet creates an interesting textural component. This combination results in a clean and soothing surface.
Verde Oval will hold a sugar and creamer; or, a pair of salt and pepper shakers. Use it to serve small servings of appetizers, like sushi or nuts or olives or relish. Combine with a couple of finger bowls as a dipping set. Display on a shelf or sideboard when it’s not in service. Dishwasher, oven, and microwave safe.
