Description
I made Floating Blue Cup on the potter’s wheel using a tan stoneware clay. This is a taller, more oval form. Deliciously shaped to fit in the hand. Impressions or dimples on either side of the cup for a comfy, firm grasp.
After the cup is trimmed and dry, it goes through the first firing, called bisque. Then, the cup is simply dipped 3/4 of the way from the top in a floating blue glaze that I make. Clean and simple. The second firing at 2200 degrees.
Liquid flows smoothly over the rim because I use a leather strip to roll the lip of clay from the interior to the exterior plane after I throw each cup. This “line” directs the flow of liquid.
Fill with your favorite holiday cheer! Perfect for eggnog, or cider or cocoa too. Great for serving wine, but I use cups like these for coffee with no problem. Heating in the microwave is safe, simply allow the cup to cool before handling.
Gift a partner, roommate, family, or friend. Makes a great gift for wedding, holidays, housewarming, birthday, or just to say “thank you”. And sometimes you just need one.
