Description
I made Taos Canisters on the potters wheel, with a seated lids that plunge into the body of each jar. Classic cylinders with flat bottoms. Slightly peaked lids with knotted handles. Generous opening. Sturdy.
I call this glaze combo ‘Taos’ because it reflects the colors of Northern New Mexico: Blue skies, green junipers and sage, creamy clouds, and golden sunshine. consists of overlapping blue, green, cream, & gold glazes. First, I dip the top 3/4 of both pieces in a floating blue glaze that I make. Then I dip the bottom quarter of each pot in a copper green glaze that I make. Next I trail or pour a cream rust glaze over the seam of the blue and green glazes. Lastly, I tip the rims and trail and daub red gold glaze to punch up the brightness.
