Taos Treble, 3-bowl condiment caddie, is a popular item. I construct the caddie from 3 cups that I throw on the wheel and then trim. Then I attach the cups to one another and reinforce the connections on top and underneath. I roll a clay handle with texture and attach it where the 3 bowls meet at the top. Each cup is approximately 3” Dia. x 3” H. I build the handle from rolled and textured coils, which resemble rope.
Taos Treble is a combination of 4 glazes. First I the upper portion of the caddie in a floating blue glaze that I make, and then line each bowl with the same blue. Next I dip the lower 1/4 of the caddie in a copper green glaze that I make. Then I trail a cream rust over the seam where the two glazes meet. For the finale, I dip the handle and rim in a red gold glaze and trail the red gold inside the bowls as well. The melding of the glazes creates a modulated, almost dimensional, surface.
This is a light-weight, well-balanced piece. The handle is easy to grasp and is comfortable as well.
Serve your favorite combinations of condiments to family and guests: salsa, guacamole, and pico de gallo; varieties of olives or nuts; pretzels or chips; and dips…this condiment caddie makes it easy to bring it!
