Description

I made Taos Pour on the potter’s wheel from stoneware clay.   It has a classic bottle shape with an elongated neck which makes a natural area to grasp.  It sits on a flat bottom.  A balanced pour.  The silicone cork fits snugly in the neck and will not leak.

I have developed a technique for combining four different glazes that results in a lovely overlapping of surfaces that often reference the natural landscape of Northern New Mexico – Blue for the NM skies (in this case midnight blue).  Green for the pinon and pastures and sage.  Cream for the amazing cloud formations.  And gold for the brilliant sunshine. I call this combo ‘Taos” and my technique involves dipping, and pouring blue, green, cream, and gold glazes.

Got a little carried away with the red gold glaze and had to do some cleaning up, so please take a look at the photo of the bottom.

Fill Taos Pour with an oil you use frequently.  Continuous use will keep the oil fresh and will avoid the need to wash the decanter. If you do need to wash the decanter, use a bottle brush and sit the decanter upside down to drain.

Makes a great gift for birthday, holiday, wedding, anniversary, house warming, and, well, any occasion.  Glaze helps regulate the temperature of the oil and blocks light, which can damage oil.

Glazed on the inside.

Fired to 2200 degrees F.

9″ high (to top of ceramic neck).  Pouring spout included.
