I made Travel Tumbler on the potters wheel from stoneware clay which fires out to a warm tan color. Designed to fit in the cup console of your vehicle. With an inset bottom and slightly tapered conical form, the tumbler sits flat on the table and feel balanced in the hand.
The glaze treatment I call “black bear” consists of 4 different glazes. I start with a floating blue glaze liner. Next I dip about 3/4 of the cup, bottom to top, in a yummy black satin glaze. Followed by a red gold glaze on the top 1/4 of the tumbler, slightly overlapping the black. And lastly, a copper green glaze over the red gold. The result is a bleeding into the red gold of the green and even the blue.
Travel Tumbler is soft to the touch. The tumbler comes with a silicone lid and slip on band to protect your hand from heat. Each tumbler holds 16 ounces of your favorite beverage.
Makes a great gift. I started this item with a small batch and I think there’s enough interest to make many more!
Fired to 2200 degrees F. Microwave and dishwasher safe.
