Description
I made Midnight Magic serving bowl on the potter’s wheel from stoneware clay, which is a tan-to-light brown color. Low and open form with a 2″ ledge and a slightly trimmed foot.
Midnight Magic serving bowl gets its surface beauty from a combination of techniques using 2 glazes, 1 of which I make myself. First I sink the entire bowl in a floating blue glaze. Most of the bowl is a dark, midnight, blue. But the interior of the bowl is brighter where the glaze collected. Next I use a sash brush to trail red gold glaze and then daub here and there. For the final accent, I dip the wide ledge of the bowl in the red gold. When the moon hits the midnight sky. Midnight magic.
