Description
I made Taos Pair soup bowls on the potter’s wheel from an iron bearing stoneware clay which fires out tan. After trimming a flat bottom, I pulled the handle directly from the body of the bowl and added a thumb stop for comfort. The rim rolls out in a flat ledge.
Taos glaze consists of 4 glazes, which I apply in a sequence, developed through much trial and error. First, the floating blue. Next, the copper green. Then trailing and pouring with the cream. And lastly, trailing and pouring with the red gold. Creating perhaps a landscape scene reminiscent of Northern New Mexico, with it open skies and enchanting clouds…junipers and sage…and sunshine or sunflowers. And lined with the floating blue with red gold magic trailing. Wow.
Each bowl holds about 2 cups of soup, cereal, oatmeal, or beverage each! Use for hot or cold! Enjoy french onion soup (yes, they can go under the broiler), green chile stew, beans, or use for dips or snacks! So many uses you’ll want more!
