Here are my favorite pots for 2017. It was more difficult than I expected to pick.
Year: 2017
A Potter’s Tail: The Great Swirl
Stitching together a living from a patchwork of creative endeavors can leave one tattered: The Great Swirl, that’s how I think of it.
A Potter’s Tail: Roadside Attraction
Sometimes people walk through the door who do not feel like strangers. You haven’t met them before and you will never see them again.
Observations on a Painter
On Friday, Roger burst into the shop (literally, no one enters like he does), plopped a canvas board on the easel, and went after some idea he obviously has been working on in the background of his subconscious! Possibly an hour later, the energetic brushwork has taken shape and is brought to its conclusion.
A Potter’s Tail: Backward Mapping and Hind Sighting
I certainly didn’t backward map my life as a professional potter.
It’s all connecting the web of dots in the rear view mirror.
A Potter’s Tail
I’ll be 58 this year and I’m working on year 3 of being a full-time potter. It feels kinda crazy some days! When I catch myself dwelling on any particular downside to making “10s and 10s of dollars,” I think back on a Bob Dylan interview I heard on the radio while sitting at my wheel about 12 years ago.
