Description
I made Single Soup bowl on the potter’s wheel from an iron bearing stoneware clay which fires out tan. After trimming a flat bottom, I pulled the handle directly from the body of the bowl and added a thumb stop for comfort. Beaded rim for added strength.
After bisque firing, I prep the bowls and then dip in a floating blue glaze that I make. Then I trail a red gold glaze over the exterior and daub in places. These daubs blossom in the kiln like abstract flowers. And lined with the floating blue with red gold magic trailing. Wow. The floating blue is dark navy where it is thinner and a brighter blue where thicker. I like to modulate the surface this way.
Each bowl holds about 2 cups of soup, cereal, oatmeal, or beverage each! Use for hot or cold! Enjoy french onion soup (yes, they can go under the broiler), green chile stew, beans, or use for dips or snacks! So many uses you’ll want more!
