Description
I made Verde Berry Bowl with Saucer on the potter’s wheel and trimmed a pedestal foot that elevates the bowl in the saucer and catches water. And I make the saucer shape to mirror the shape of the bowl, with a flattened rim which makes it easy to grasp when carrying the set. Because the pedestal foot seats in the saucer, the two together are stable even in motion.
I create the”Verde” glaze by dipping two-thirds of the piece in a copper green glaze that I make. And then I dip the piece in a cream rust glaze I make. The cream fills in the last third of the piece and overlaps with the green. It’s a clean, tailored look.
Rinse and serve berries and fruits in same bowl. Serve berries, cherries, or other fruit to the table with bowl set in the saucer to prevent dripping. I keep my berry bowl in the fridge and I turn the saucer upside down over the berries to cover the top. But you may also keep the bowl on the saucer. It’s well-balanced and easy to pull out of the fridge without bobbling it.
Or use as a colander for hot or cold foods. And you can, according to one customer, place a head of lettuce in the bowl with the stem out and the holes in the bowl help to keep lettuce fresh longer. Great idea!
Also makes a great housewarming, wedding, or thank you gift.
Colander is 6.25″ diameter 4″h. Saucer is 4.5″ diameter.
